Sustainability is a fundamental pillar at Permacast, embedded in every step of our operations from concrete mix design to material sourcing and product delivery, building with tomorrow in mind.
Our Approach
Innovation to see the circular economy in practice
Rather than relying solely on virgin materials, we embrace circular economy principles. We view WA’s industrial waste streams not as a burden, but as a resource. As an industry leader in WA, we’ve developed high‑recycled‑content concrete mixes that greatly reduce dependence on Portland cement by incorporating local by‑products and addressing a major source of embodied carbon in construction.
We’re replacing up to 40% of traditional raw materials with recycled content and industrial by‑products, cutting emissions, reducing transport waste, and boosting regional resilience.
Collaboration and leadership
We recognise no one acts alone. That’s why we partner with universities, industry bodies and government to validate low‑carbon technologies, deploy innovations at scale and champion stronger sustainability standards. In a sector with limited mandates, we are striving to lead change and build confidence in sustainable concrete solutions.
Transparency & accountability
Authenticity matters. We commit to rigorous testing, external validation, independent benchmarking and transparent reporting. With Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and compliance to industry standards, we hold ourselves accountable and ensure our products stand up to real‑world performance and climate expectations.
Local impact, lasting benefits
By utilising local materials and by‑products, we reduce reliance on imported inputs and reduce transport‑related emissions. Our approach creates value for communities, supports local industry, and contributes meaningfully to the built environment’s resilience.
At Permacast, sustainability isn’t just “an initiative”, it’s how we define our future.
White paper
To see how we apply these guiding principles to achieve real-world outcomes, we invite you to read our newly-released technical paper – “Implementing Circular Economy Principles in WA Concrete Production: Pathways to Low Carbon, High Performance Green Concrete”.
It explores how our innovative concrete mixes, cross-sector collaboration, and government action could work together to transform WA’s waste problem into lower-carbon concrete solutions, unlocking environmental benefits and local economic value in the process.
